“The Simplicity & Significance of the Gospel”

FOCUS

“Genuine imitation” is like “jumbo shrimp,” “recent past” & “lost discoveries“ :-) … something’s clearly wrong with each one from the get go. So it is when anyone says something like, “there must be & are many valid gospels, not just one.” Or, “Jesus was a good man & great moral teacher, but there’s no way He’s the only way, truth & life.” No, a good man & great moral teacher doesn’t lie about his true identity.

Today’s message is another that carries a warning concerning our walk in this world as followers of Christ. We mustn’t back down or turn back.

When It Comes to the Gospel, We Need to Know …

1. its good news qualifies & conquers the bad news of sin & death.

Until someone realizes they are lost, they’ll have no sense of their need to be saved.

Luke 19:10 (John 16:8-10) 1 Corinthians 15:1-57 (especially vs56-57) Romans 6:23

2. being steadfast & immovable concerning it is what we’re called to do.

Don’t allow anyone or anything to sway you from what you know is true.

1 Corinthians 15:58 / Acts 4:12

Making It Real

1] Can you see that the supreme goodness of the good news

is connected to the supreme badness of the bad news?

2] Will you keep trusting God for the grace & strength to “stand firm [letting]

nothing move you [while] always [giving yourself] fully to the work of the Lord?”

Action Step

Memorize & keep rehearsing 1 Corinthians 15:58.
